This was taken at North Chagrin Reservation. There was an area right in the parking lot full of bluets so I spent about an hour shooting different angles. This is my favorite. Proof you don’t have to go far to find a photograph.

Furnace Run Daffodils

I got up very early two Sunday mornings ago and headed down to Furnace Run Metro Park in Richfield to shoot some daffodils. The park’s website says that the land the daffodil trail is on was owned by the first metro parks director and he planted the first bulbs along the trail. There are now more than 30 thousand daffodils every April along the 0.6 mile trail. I shot this one with a very thin depth of field to showcase the great detail in the flower’s center while producing a background that looks very much like a painting.

February Showers & Flowers

Well it’s been unseasonably warm and rainy the past few days here in NE Ohio so last night I decided to setup the camera and shoot a few shots of the tulips that Kate bought at Lowes. I played around with the light and shooting from different angles for about 2 hours. I wasn’t really satisfied with any of the shots I had gotten up until this shot. The strange thing is I didn’t know what I was looking for just that I hadn’t gotten it yet. One look through the viewfinder to frame this up and I could see this was it. I took 2 frames and headed off to bed. I think my satisfaction with this image comes from how it captures the details of every aspect of the blossom. The color and the texture of the petals, yellow glow of the base and the smooth transition to the stem.

First Post & Welcome

As this is the first post I guess I should explain a little about what I’m going to do with this blog at least to start out with. This blog is going to be used to publish an RSS feed of wallpaper images. I’m going to try to post as many per week as time will permit. I will also include a little bit about each image like how it was captured. I will also provide commentary on news and products from time to time. Enjoy.

The first image I want to post is one that I took last night while experimenting with my new Canon 25mm extension tube. It was made by simply lighting the flower with a single 100W CFL. I’m pretty pleased with the results. The camera equipment used was the Canon Rebel XTi, 70-200F4L, EF25.
